New Opportunities for Transboundary Water Cooperation in Central Asia?

The recent developments in Central Asia point in the direction of increasing opportunities for interstate water cooperation in the Ferghana Valley and elsewhere. While transboundary relationship at the republican levels are improving, a lot of work remains to be done. This pertains especially to the management of the numerous smaller scale irrigation canals and rivers that cross from one country into another.

Jointly with local experts, including Sukrat Ergashev, Deputy Director Oblvodkhoz Andijan Province in Uzbekistan, Oyture Anarbekov, IWMI Tashkent and Andrey Yakovlev, hydrosolutions is discussion options for the facilitation of the horizontal exchange between experts and stakeholders across borders.
